Take Control of Your Health: Why It's Time to Ditch Ultra Processed Foods

Nov 20, 2024

It’s time for a wake-up call! If you haven’t done so yet, go to your pantry and clear out everything that is ultra-processed. I am beyond frustrated with food companies that sell us products that are detrimental to our health. These corporations spend millions of dollars perfecting the "mouth appeal" of their products, making them addictive while providing little to no nutritional value. This is not just a personal grievance; it’s a public health crisis that we need to address collectively.

The Reality of Ultra-Processed Foods

Take a good look at what you have. If it contains dyes, added sugars, industrial seed oils, or refined grains, toss it out! These ingredients are not just harmless additives; they can wreak havoc on your body. Ultra-processed foods often contain high levels of sugar and unhealthy fats, which can lead to weight gain and a host of other health issues. It doesn’t matter how much you exercise—your liver still has to process these harmful substances, and your cells don’t know how to handle them. Consuming these products can lead to obesity, inflammation, metabolic disorders, and a host of other diseases.

The food industry has mastered the art of creating products that are not only convenient but also designed to keep us coming back for more. They utilize ingredients that trigger our brain’s reward system, making us crave more of what is essentially junk. This is not just a matter of poor dietary choices; it’s a systematic issue that affects our health on a societal level.

The Big Pharma Connection

And let’s not forget about Big Pharma, which adds another layer to this frustrating equation. For years, I’ve been saying that between the giant food corporations and pharmaceutical companies, we are merely their industry. It’s infuriating and, frankly, sickening. It reminds me of The Matrix—a movie I can't stand—because it feels like we’re being used as a farm. They profit from us at the beginning selling us unhealthy food, and then they profit again when we need medications to treat the ailments caused by those very foods.

Did you know that the average 65-year-old will spend around $165,000 in retirement on medical costs? That’s unbelievable! I don’t have that kind of money, and I’m sure many of you don’t either. This cycle of consumption and medication is not sustainable, and it’s time we take a stand.

The Importance of Taking Control

So, how can we avoid falling into this trap? The answer lies in taking control of our health. The four major diseases—heart disease, metabolic disorders, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases—are all influenced by how we treat our bodies. This is precisely why I created The 6 Pillars of Wellness. My mission isn’t just to help you look better in your jeans (although, let’s be honest, we all want that!). What I truly care about is how your cells look and function on the inside.

When we prioritize whole, nutrient-dense foods over ultra-processed options, we empower ourselves to make better choices. Foods rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants support our bodily functions and can help mitigate the risks of chronic diseases. Imagine replacing sugary snacks with fresh fruits, opting for whole grains instead of refined ones, and choosing healthy fats over industrial seed oils. These small changes can lead to significant improvements in your overall health.

The Role of Education and Community

Education is a crucial component in this journey. Understanding what goes into our food and how it affects our bodies can empower us to make informed choices. That’s why I emphasize the importance of learning about nutrition and healthy living. In my program, I provide resources and guidance to help you understand the science behind food choices and their impact on your health.

Community support is equally important. When you surround yourself with like-minded individuals who are also committed to improving their health, you create an environment that fosters growth and accountability. This is why my annual group program, The 6 Pillars of Wellness, is designed to bring women together to share their journeys, challenges, and successes.

What to Expect from The 6 Pillars of Wellness

I had to get this off my chest because my annual group program, The 6 Pillars of Wellness, is now open for enrollment. I only accept 10 women so that I can provide focused, personalized support. Together, we create a community dedicated to health and wellness.

Yes, the investment may seem substantial, but when you consider the benefits—like learning proper biomechanics to build muscle and stave off sarcopenia and osteoporosis—it’s a sound investment. You’re not just investing in a program; you’re buying yourself time. Time saved from doctor visits; time saved from dealing with diseases. There’s no better investment than investing in your health.

Imagine this April feeling less bloated, with less cravings and sugar addiction, less aches and pains and more energy. I'll guide and coach you through your 12-week journey to help you find what habits you want and need to change and how to change them for life.

These are the tools you need to take control of your health and break free from the cycle of dependency on processed foods and medications.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, it’s time to take a stand against ultra-processed foods and the systems that profit from our poor health choices. By educating ourselves, making mindful food choices, and investing in our well-being, we can reclaim our health and live fulfilling lives.
